This delicious pie couldn’t be easier to put together.
Instead of the traditional slice of Cheddar cheese on top, this recipe uses
cheese crackers for a delightfully crunchy cheese flavor.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
1 store bought 8″ pie shell (graham or shortbread)
1 21 ounce can apple pie filling
1-3/4 cups whole cheese crackers
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
Break up the crackers lightly. No need to turn them into powder.
Combine broken crackers, sugar and flour until evenly mixed.
Chill a stick of butter and cut it into pieces.
An eight inch store bought crust takes only one can of pie filling.
A nine or ten inch or a deep dish pan will need two cans of filling.
No need to double the topping quantities, there is enough for any size single pie shell.
Empty filling into shell and spread around evenly.
Spread cracker mixture evenly over pie shell and dot the top with the little cubes of butter.
Bake at 425 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Be sure to cover your pie with aluminum foil halfway through
the baking process to prevent your topping from over browning.
Cool your delicious pie before cutting and serving.
A dollop of vanilla ice cream on the side doesn’t hurt this great dessert one little bit.
