1 cup dried split peas
2 14.5 ounce cans chicken broth
2 cups water
1 large bay leaf
1 Tablespoon granulated garlic
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/4 cup chopped onion
2/3 cup chopped ham (may be added just before serving)
Simmer all ingredients until peas are completely soft.
Remove bay leaf.
Using a stick blender, puree until desired texture is achieved.
Add more hot water to thin desired consistency, if needed.
Add a squirt or two of Tabasco hot sauce (optional).
Adjust seasonings (salt & pepper) to taste.
Ladle into bowls, serve immediately. Serves 4
